Annamma Oommen (née Samuel) was born on December 21, 1947, to the late C. M. Samuel and Mariamma Samuel of Thazhayil House, Uthimood, Kerala. She was the eldest of three children. At the age of 15, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in obedience to her faith.
After completing her nursing education at CSI Hospital, Bangalore, she began her nursing career in Delhi. She married George C. Oommen on July 19, 1975, in Kerala, India. Together they built a loving home centered on faith, perseverance, and family.
In 1982, Annamma and her family immigrated to Milwaukie, Oregon. Through determination and hard work, she became a Registered Nurse in the United States. Her nursing career spanned more than 35 years, including her time at Providence Milwaukie Hospital. Her compassion, dedication, and servant's heart touched countless lives.
Faith was the foundation of Annamma's life. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ deeply and reflected His love through her humility, kindness, quiet strength, and care for others. Her unwavering trust in God sustained her through every season of life.
In 2022, Annamma was diagnosed with Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), though her symptoms had begun in 2019. She faced her illness with courage, grace, and steadfast faith. On October 18, 2026, she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Annamma is survived by her beloved husband, George; her son, Sajan, daughter-in-law, Jinsy, and granddaughters, Elaina and Sophia; her daughter, Susan, son-in-law, David, and granddaughter, Naomi; her brother, V. S. Thomas; and her sister, Kunjumol.
Affectionately known as Ammachi, she will be remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit, abiding faith, love for Jesus Christ, and devoted care for her family. Her legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the blessed hope that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Absent from the body, she is at home with the Lord.
