Virginia Darlene Melzer

Virginia was born on November 26, 1925 to Micheal and Vera (Smith )Hickerson, in Burlingame, Kansas where she attended school till the 8th grade. They moved to Pacific Palisades, California, where she finished her schooling and she was Doug McClure's' neighbor. After graduation she was a bank teller.
She met her husband, Vernon Carl Melzer, while working with the USO. They were married on January 16, 1946. They moved to Sherman County, Oregon where they farmed (wheat), until his death in 2017. They were married for 71 years. They were snowbirds for 35 years and were avid shuffleboard players. She loved playing games like Pinochle, bridge and card games. She enjoyed watching the grandkids play sports and rarely missed a game.
She is survived by her son Daryl V. Melzer and his wife Kristy. Four grandchildren and their spouses Don and Annie, Timothy, Micheal (MJ), and Cody and Andrea. Six Great-Grandchildren; Pyeper, Caiden, Lilly, Teagan, Jake and Lizzy who they called Grandy. A sister Jeanie Heasenpflug, her friend Frank and several nieces and nephews.
